Ask Weirsdo: Meekmok Character

Tom & Icy want to know if the Meekmoks are meek.
In a word, no, Tom & Icy. I got this term from G. Zolman's blog (not for children!), and did not know until I researched it just now that it is apparently from the X FILES or something.
I am actually a little surprised that you are asking, because you have printed pictures of them on your blogs that do not resemble the description in the link above. Since this same depiction appeared on the Cheesemeister's blog about Pansi and friends, I had assumed the Meekmoks had evolved, and that you and the Cheesemeister had more intimate knowledge of them than I did. But perhaps those pictures are just more tabloid lies.

Ask Weirsdo: Groening Groaning

A few posts back, Karen was upset about comparisons of THE SIMPSONS with Faux News:

I'm sorry you all feel that way. Fringe is an updated version of X-Files. Family Man is an updated version of King of the Hill.
The Simpsons has, and always will be, on its own.

I think we have to separate the characters and events on THE SIMPSONS, which often resemble the "news" in thoughtlessness, manic energy, and absurd perspective, from the satirical lens through which we see them, thanks to Groening's artistry. That is certainly lacking in Faux News.
Personally, I enjoy THE SIMPSONS, though I prefer the edgier LIFE IN HELL series.

Weirsdo Digs Up More Nixon Scandals

We found this video evidence regarding President Nixon's relationship with his Vice President alarming. We do not understand what Nixon stands to gain from spying on and manipulating V. P. Kudzu. His mind seems to have grown more convoluted and paranoid than ever in the Netherworld. If Tom & Icy, who reported this situation, can shed any light on it, we would be grateful. (We said LIGHT, Icy, not white hair.)

Ask Weirsdo: Papal Mystery

In response to our discussion of Hobbes' preferred method of elimination, Master Mistery asked, "Does the Pope poop in the woods?"
M. M., this link will give you all the information we have on the Pope and feces. Beyond this, you will have to apply to His Holiness.

Weirsdo Roundup: Emrald's Public Works

DSC01771.JPG
Diamonelle has been declared a Treasured Stuffed Animal Representative (TSAR), for her differently abled modeling.

Move over, Ken Burns. LONG before your public parks documentary, ASININE NEWS posted this moving tribute to Emrald's selfless establishment of public restrooms across the galaxy while she was Meekmok Queen.
This kind of other-directed innovation contrasts starkly with pale imitations of the cultural achievements of others, or even of their evolutionary processes.

Ask Weirsdo: Inquiring Minds

A long time ago, it seems now, during our summer shortage, Tom & Icy supplied a number of questions, which we are only just now getting to because Karen's summary took so long:

Can Hobbes do fuzzy math and use fuzzy logic? Does he poop in the woods and wipe his butt on a tree? When he went to France, did it turn him gay?

Like his best friend, Toyplayer, Hobbes specializes in fuzzy math. Also like his best friend Toyplayer, though, Hobbes is actually good at logic when it is not attached to mathematical symbols, although he is not quite as good a chess player as Toyplayer.
Hobbes is a civilized bear and does not poop in the woods except in exceptional circumstances, for instance when living at his kidnappers' camp in Ork. On such occasions, he does not wipe on trees, being averse to splinters.
If marriage to Julia did not "turn him gay," and it did not, nothing would. He is, however, wary of women, especially large red bear-women.

Weirsdo Responds More: A Deer in Fashion's Headlights

On viewing this post, Tom & Icy noticed that Bambi looked "pretty intense or hypnotized."
Yes, Tom & Icy, Bambi also loved Franc's collection. A compulsive shopper, she insisted on purchasing all of it, even though, as you can imagine, none of the garments was at all flattering.

Ask Weirsdo: Runway Project

DSC01768.JPG
Diamonelle has modeled on a wide array of surfaces.

After this post, RBUD, who is always interested in Diamonelle's runways, observed, "An eraser catwalk? Perfect."

Actually, that front support is just a wooden block painted or inked purple, RBUD. Mall Diva's artistry is widespread throughout the Weirsdo mansion and Stuffed Animal Planet.

Ask Weirsdo: Conversation about Samuel R. Delany

In response to this post, Karen wrote,

I'm loathe to mention "Conversations with Samuel R. Delany" has edged out "Levinas and Nineteenth-Century Literature: Ethics and Otherness from Romanticism Through Realism" for the number two slot.
Carl Freedman must have read this post and started buying his own book willy-nilly.

Actually, Karen, CONVERSATIONS WITH SAMUEL R. DELANY has sometimes occupied BOTH slots one and two, while we were down at 8, 9, or 10. But since Samuel R. Delany is a gay African American science fiction writer, I think that volume has more crossover appeal.
I'm loth to mention it, but "loathe" with an "e" is a verb.

Tom & Icy had this query about Dr. Weirsdo's collection after yesterday's post:

It says it will be published Sept 30, ten days from now, and yet it is in stock and they have several used books for $20 less. Is there some kind of time-warp involved, like maybe from the Atlantian Energy thingy, or has the Bermuda Triangle moved inward.

I think it should say Aug. 30, T&I. We got the ones we ordered early this month (only 4, Karen--we're not subsidizing ourselves).

Ask Weirsdo: Moony and Academe

DSC01766.JPG
Diamonelle attended the School of Hard Knocks, majoring in Cool.

After yesterday's post, RBUD, who was once affiliated with Emory, hoped Moony would enjoy it.
Actually, RBUD, I think Moony is thinking of majoring in Business and Violin at the University of Georgia, which has a better music department than Emory. When Moony was in the Junior Miss pageant, she claimed to be interested in Emory, but mainly because she thought it would sound more impressive. Moony's mom works at a lab that is somehow connected with Emory, but the reason Moony is in the Emory Youth Orchestra is that she moved suddenly at the end of the summer, and it was too late to audition for any orchestras, so on my advice Moony played for a well connected teacher in Atlanta who knew the conductor of the Emory orchestra and got Moony an audition, even though normally they would not have admitted anyone at that point. They sat her 4th chair last year.

Regarding Dr. Weirsdo's position on Amazon's bestsellers (in literary criticism) list, Tom & Icy wrote: "So cool! Your book is between Gay Male Stories and Lesbian Romance. Does it include the Platonic Orgy Story?"
Yes, T&I, it has not escaped our notice that most of the volumes the Levinas collection is competing with are about gay desire, so we are extra flattered by our position. Alas, the Platonic Orgy piece is not in there, no doubt because Plato lived considerably before the nineteenth century. I did urge Dr. Weirsdo to put something about orality in the title of his PRE-COLONIAL AFRICA IN COLONIAL AFRICAN NARRATIVES potboiler and include a suitable cover illustration, but my advice fell on deaf, overly intellectual, ears. Who knew Levinas would turn out to be sexy?

Weirsdo Roundup: Moony & Weirsdo Lit Crit

We congratulate Moony, who has just become the Concertmaster of the Emory Youth Symphony.
We also congratulate ourselves, and especially Dr. Weirsdo, for now being number TWO on Amazon's hot new bestsellers (in literary criticism) list.
And we congratulate Diamonelle on being coolly irrelevant, or vice versa.
