Ask Weirsdo: Groening Groaning

A few posts back, Karen was upset about comparisons of THE SIMPSONS with Faux News:

I'm sorry you all feel that way. Fringe is an updated version of X-Files. Family Man is an updated version of King of the Hill.
The Simpsons has, and always will be, on its own.

I think we have to separate the characters and events on THE SIMPSONS, which often resemble the "news" in thoughtlessness, manic energy, and absurd perspective, from the satirical lens through which we see them, thanks to Groening's artistry. That is certainly lacking in Faux News.
Personally, I enjoy THE SIMPSONS, though I prefer the edgier LIFE IN HELL series.

Heyyyy, that Lisa Simpson swings a mean sax! Name me one news-square that can make the 'phone wail like Lisa!

I have always been confused between personification and anthropomorphicism. I wonder if people are being explicitly abstract sometimes. So how do slick plastic dolls end up on Stuffed Animal Planet with fuzzy bears. PS- Lammy is a virtual doll, that's an image without substance. I guess I'd better go wish Nessa a happy birthday.

Darn, I got confused again. Nessa's birthday isn't until Oct 2, but Facebook sent me an email that said the week of Sept 28 and I thought it meant the 28th, but I guess that is like being explicitly abstract or abstractly explicit or just plain confusing to me. See how disturbing life can be?

I get confused when I don't understand.

CORRECTION: The updated version of King of the Hill is not Family Man. The correct name of the show is Family Guy.

Family Guy is an American animated television sitcom, created by Seth MacFarlane, for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a dysfunctional family which consists of Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie, and their pet dog Brian.

Stewie's is a flamboyant toddler, whose head is shaped like an American football.

Brian speaks intelligently and attends college.

Dusty was a lot like Brian, but he lied a lot.

Tom & Icy: I appreciate the thought. Facebook did the same to me the other day and really threw me off and then they didn't send the reminder for the day the birthday actually was. Annoying as all hell.

I think Glenn Beck could make anyone cry out in soul-chilling agony, C. C. C.

Good for you, Nessa.

Life can indeed be disturbing, like when a Meekmok shows up on your noodle, T&I.

I haven't given FAMILY GUY too much of a chance, Karen, but I've never heard anyone speaking intelligently on it. And the same can be said for Faux News.

I think I like Dusty better. Though I was once informed by a quiz that the FAMILY GUY character I most resemble is Brian.

I don't do Facebook, Nessa.
