But, thought the male Captist, the ignominies suffered by Captists in general at the paws of Captist trash were as nothing compared with the peril of their Captist ladies, many bereft by the war of male protection, who lived alone in the outlying districts, on lonely roads, or even in the wilds of Ork itself. It was the large number of outrages on Captist ladies and the ever-present fear for the safety of their wives and daughters that drove Captist males to cold and trembling fury and caused the Cat Claw Clan to spring up overnight.
