More Weirsdo Roundup: Rena Williams' Art

I have a piece by Rena Williams. I bet you're jealous. Fortunately for you, she has a Website, here, and you can get in touch with her in the comments.
Here is a true story about Rena. I have known her for over ten years, because I taught her granddaughters violin and viola (that's how I got the painting, by the way). They are both beautiful, smart kids, and one of them was recently one of five young violists in the country accepted to "A Weekend with Robert Mcduffie" at Mercer.
But I digress. When UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN came out, Rena and her husband were invited to the Hollywood premier because Rena's college roommate had written the book. Since this conflicted with my studio's recital, Rena decided not to go to the premier. Yes, you are reading correctly. She elected not to ride in the limo, walk the red carpet, hobnob with the wealthy, powerful and famous. She preferred to listen to hesitant renditions of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, the Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor, and other timeworn Suzuki classics.
But Rena did not simply write off the premier. When the movie came to play in Auburn, she and a select few of her closest friends all dressed up in sunglasses and fancy duds, met at the theater with a lot of "kiss, kiss" and "you look FABulous, dahling--who does your botox?" and had a wonderful time.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go visit her site already.

Lovely painting!
I think she made the right choice. Who wants to rub plastic elbows with the rich and shallow when they can have a better time with the talented and interesting?
Hi weirsdo,
Thought I read "been there, done that got the t-shirt."
Thanks for the mention and your tips. So marooning rather than walking the 'planck' and topless quarks, eh. lol!
I must find time to get into character mode and search for hidden treasure.
Talented, eccentric, always better.
This place I'm staying courtesy of my "violin man" does have an Andy Warhol "ten Marilyn’s" i'd like to ' borrow as well as a Picasso and a couple of kick ass sculptures. Strange enough a local artist selling as an artist in residence - which she technically wasn't - had the most intriguing thing so far.
that is a great piece - looks acrylic though.
art should always be a gift- no matter how much it costs.
Tx, Cheesemeister.
Sooo Heisenberg of you, Quasar.
Cooper: This painting is watercolor, gold leaf, and black pen.
PS - I am jealous
Beautiful Piece!!!
Hope you are having a good day
and keep an eye out for any sharks
That's a great testament to you as a violin instructor for a number of reasons. But that painting is indeed beautiful as are those on her site. Thanks for sharing this. Hmmm, "A Weekend with Robert McDuffie"...I suppose one can dream.
I've never heard of her before, but her artwork is beautiful & she sounds very down to earth.
remember what i said to you yesterday in response to your comment (on my site)? "...you become more impressive to me by the second." well *ditto* that, my friend, with a capital "D".
and, speaking of your recent visit, thank you so much for those wonderful and incredibly thoughtful words...it is *always* an honor and such a treat to hear (read) what you have to say! xox
I think I'm wrong about the gold leaf. I think it's gold paint pen.
And thanks, Neva and Cheesemeister and Cooper.
And G! Sorry. Didn't mean to leave you out!
Beautiful painting but I still want to see the photo of you in fancy duds and sunglasses.
Sorry, Doug. I think there is such a photo, but probably not digital, and I have no scanner, and if I ever got it, I have no idea where it is.
I'm glad you scrolled down and saw this painting. I really love it.
